Pulling the Plug at Facebook
Banished by Facebook disinformation frauds for "community standards" violations
It was about to happen sooner or later.
Yesterday, April 11, Facebook finally yanked my profile, or more accurately “permanently disabled” my account for not following “Community Standards.”
Suffice it to say when my Facebook newsreel wasn’t scrolling posts of family or pup photos my friends just had to see, it contained a diverse selection of views, some obviously antithetical to the national narrative. Endowed as I am, practically cursed, with heightened genetics for skepticism – OK, a bullshit meter - and a penchant for real journalism, recognizing government packaged propaganda is always a no-brainer…so I shared them. Regularly.
Trusted free-speech sources included Rumble episodes with Glenn Greenwald and Kim Iverson, and Substack pieces by authors like Aaron Maté, Seymour Hersh and Caitlin Johnstone and more. All resulted in mixed reviews, as expected, with replies and comments running the gamut from backfire exercises from party ideologues to total agreement with FB friends. We would invariably learn or unlearn something, even while entangled in the NGO Borg.
To be clear, any cog in the Meta arm of the counter-disinformation complex would have shut down a profile like mine years ago. As the administrator of a Veterans For Peace page, I regularly shared posts that ran counter to Pentagon interventionist war-making, so yesterday the crack Facebook disinformation experts also pulled the plug on its “suspicious” antiwar content after all.
I guess I had it coming. Maybe if I would have picked the right side in the US/NATO proxy war, or the right nuclear arsenal? As if there was a “right” side at the brink of a confrontation with no winners.
In the meantime, Facebook will just have to get by without me.
I only post stuff like that, nothing fuzzy on my FB page; so far no warnings. Jeez. Freedom of speech, huh?
I canceled my Facebook account 3 years ago it was the best thing ever. I use Twitter even less now too.
