Whatever You Do, Don't Watch One of the Most Important Interviews of Our Time
Over 102 million views on 𝕏 in one day
Former FOX News talk show host Tucker Carlson has set cyberspace on fire this week by daring to interview our “deranged,” “murderous” adversary Vladimir Putin from the sanctum of the Kremlin. The hour-long exchange will be aired on 𝕏 and tuckercarlson.com at 3:00 Pacific.
Carlson has already been branded as traitorous propagandist, added to a Ukrainian hit list and sanctioned by the EU. I expect that most of my legacy party acquaintances (read, former friends) won't tune in because the "far-right", treasonous, "fascist" Tucker Carlson is in the driver's seat. Have they ever watched or listened to a Tucker Carlson interview or War Machine segment? Well, of course not.
“He’s a biggot…he’s a fascist…transphobe…mysogynist.” “I hate the way he laughs.” OK, OK, but have you ever watched his show?!
“No way! It’s on Fox!”
My thoughts exactly for years, ever since Carlson’s support of the Iraq War. I actually voted for John Kerry. Don’t hold that against me. Hear me out.
Most of the Tucker Carlson descriptors were smears. In recent years Carlson became a mouthpiece for Julian Assange. If that wasn’t enough, Carlson has railed against Hillary Clinton, US support for the Ukraine war, the Censorship Industrial Complex, and the ongoing IDF slaughter of Palestinians. No doubt American complicity in the global war culture will be broached today.
Regrettably, the corporate news viewership cult will prefer one more serving of national narrative pablum by MSM stenographers, but this crumbling demographic is not the future. And thanks to Carlson and platforms like 𝕏 the national narrative is unraveling.
National Security Council Spokesperson John Kirby said today that anyone who watches Carlson’s interview needs to remember they’re listening to Putin and “shouldn't take at face value anything he has to say.” I guess we’ll see.
I.F. Stone was right. “If you want to know about governments, all you need to know is two words: Governments lie.”
That's why the Fourth Estate is critical to effective democratic governance and why the US war machine desperately needs to shut down journalists, particularly lightning rods who push back. Tucker Carlson is not the answer, but who else has tried on a global stage - and pissed off much of a hemisphere in the process.
I’m waiting.
If they hadn't made such a fuss I, like many others, would have had no idea this interview took place.
