I grew up during the 80s and the non stop fear of the ussr. Looking back at one of worst cold war scare movies of the time Red Dawn. I watch it now after all i have learned and cringe at how bad it is.
As a new (since 2015) German, I am almost as ashamed of my adopted country as I am of my birth country (USA). They are both responsible for the war in Ukraine, and if it gets even worse they will be even more to blame, if there is anyone left on the planet to do so.
